Below are the essential things that are needed to start small scale gardening in containers and/or raised beds. This is intended as reference only, as to what it might cost if we were to purchase these items from the local market now, September 2009.
Typical gardens are comprised of 4' x 8' raised beds and/or 1 gallon containers. To estimate (conversion calculator) costs we can consider 32 square feet of planting area, about <100 square feet total, to be what an individual plot might use in the garden.
