Guerrilla Gardeners for the Homeless

Introduction Movie Clip 2.5 min.

As I'm sure you know, our less fortunate brothers and sisters now face an appalling and formidable future.   Our mission is to address the need for practical systemic solutions to the problems of malnutrition that plague our neighbors and friends.   Altough we have few tools and supplies in hand, our greatest assets are and will always be our minds and friendships.

Our numbers are small at this time and our objective is huge--there are many homeless and poverty stricken people who need our help.  I urge you to step up to the plate and become a leader in this endeavor.  Stating that we are interested is only a courageous tiny first step.  To be truly effective we must each take ownership of the challenge and decide for ourselves how we can best contribute to our common aims.

There is plenty of work to go around.  We need you to tell us what you are willing to do--it may seem as though we are breaking your arm, but really, we are only twisting it a little--and trying to do so as gently as possible!  We are looking for commitments
that you feel you can make and keep You don't have to be an idealist to be a Guerrilla Gardener, but it helps!

We are cooperating with Ourlando, locally made which is an organization supporting local & independent business, the arts, local food & the well being of our citizens.

Experts tell us that it is often best to start gardening by planting in containers.   Doing so has many has advantages, it makes plants much easier to care for and a window sill, a patio, a balcony or a doorstep will provide sufficient space for a productive mini-garden.   Problems with soil-borne diseases, nematodes or poor soil conditions can be easily overcome.   So we have decided to make our initial efforts in this direction and are seeking to engage the local community by asking property owners, particularly businesses, to provide space for our gardens to grow.

For your conienence this Container Gardening Participation Form has been specialy formated to be printed directly from your web browser.

Every Wednesday at 5:00 pm, we will be meeting at Eola Park to make plans and strategies for our Guerrilla operations.

Please join us even if you do not feel that you can make a commitment yet.
