Books, What Are They?

I have always loved books.  And what's not to love about a book that is a work of art?  This book was fun to make on so many levels.  There was the decoration of the various papers used in assembling the book, the design and construction of the inner pages, and the building of the box or case for the book.  I also got to use calligraphy on the leaves of the book and added two of my favorite philosophical quotations.

Artist Books are extremely  popular these days.  There is a whole new world of pop ups books, altered books, and books made of unusual materials.  The  real challenge to today's artist is clearly to redefine the question:  What is a Book?
